Mental Health & Wellbeing

Homefield C of E Primary School believes strongly in the importance of supporting children and young people's social and emotional development. We ensure children learn about their mental health, what this is, means, how and where to get help.  But also, how to help themselves.  This is even more important after the COVID 19 pandemic.  The impact of this may affect us all for several years and here at Homefield, we want to ensure our children and families have the best knowledge and tools to help them achieve and maintain good mental health and know how and where they can get help if they need it.  This will allow our children to fully thrive and achieve their ambitions.

We follow 'Jigsaw, the mindfulness approach to PSHE' and In Sept 2023 we launched the  'Thrive' approach to better support children's emotional health and mental wellbeing.

Thrive is our whole school approach to emotional health and mental wellbeing. It is designed to help children and young people become more emotionally resilient and better placed to engage with life and learning.

The Thrive whole-school approach to wellbeing is research led and evidence based. It is proven to improve attendance, behaviour and attainment

Mrs Clarke is our trained Thrive practitioner - Mrs Clarke's training includes focusing on the emotional needs of different age groups, informed by established neuroscience and attachment research, as well as child development studies and research into risk and resilience factors

At Anna Freud, our vision is a world where all children and young people are able to achieve their full potential. A world in which they and their families get support that is designed with their input, available at the right time, and meets their needs, so that they can develop their emotional and mental health.
