At Homefield, we seek to provide our pupils with the knowledge and skills required to engage positively, responsibly and safely with an ever-changing digital world.  Information technology is an all-encompassing part of society and will only increase in prevalence and importance as time progresses.  Technology will play a pivotal part in our pupil’s lives and we hope to prepare them for a digital future.

In the EYFS curriculum, information technology will be used to provide interesting and engaging opportunities for young children.   Our pupils will have opportunities to use technology to solve problems, produce creative outcomes and develop their computational thinking. 

Through Key Stage 1 & 2, pupils will cover the Computing National Curriculum using materials developed by the ‘National Centre for Computing Education’.  Content will be delivered cumulatively and sequentially to ensure a clear progression in skills and knowledge.  Pupils will have dedicated computing lessons weekly and teachers will seek to use information technology to enhance learning in other subjects where possible.

Similarly, online safety is covered throughout Key Stages 1 & 2 to foster digital literacy and online safety skills in our pupils.

The ‘National Centre for Computing Education’ computing curriculum will be implemented in the 2023-2024 academic year and a basic roadmap of the content covered is included here:
